The point (2,19) lies:

a. above and to the right of the line y = 3 + 7x

Nope, In this equation (y = 3 + 7x), we know we have a rather steep positive slope of +7 that crosses the y-axis at 3. The picture on the left shows a steep positive slope. The picture on the right shows that everything above that line is to the left of the line. Therefore, our answer of "above and to the right" can not be correct.

 

However, you are correct that the point falls above the line. If we replace the x in our equation (y = 3 + 7x) with a 2, we would get y = 3 + 7(2) = 3 + 14 = 17. So the point falling on the line at an x-value of 2, will have a y-value of 17 (2, 17), but our point (2, 19) is above that.
